This Sh*t is Pajamas, P-A-J-A-M-A-S

First post at home & you can bet I got some stares from people when I wore this to lunch in the middle-of-nowhere.  Anything dressier than jeans & a t-shirt doesn't fly here.  Of course, I'm actually in pajama bottoms, so I'm not exactly dressed up. ;)

Yes, you read that right - these pants are men's pajama bottoms.  My dad had them and he's never worn them, so when I saw that he was getting rid of them I took them instead.  Challenge accepted.  What do you think, did I pull it off?

Just Peachy

When I was a snarky pre-teen and someone asked me how I was, I would always sarcastically answer just peachy, thanks. But warm weather makes me really feel just peachy – relaxed and happy and sunshine-y.   I’m so glad that it’s finally nice enough to wear dresses and skirts without tights.

This is my last post in NYC for awhile because I packed up and left for the summer. I’m back in my hometown for a few months to work and vacation and spend time with my family.  All of my clothes are packed up in suitcases, and even if I could find anything to wear it’s all wrinkled or dirty, so I’ve been living in my boyfriend’s t-shirt and jean shorts for the past week.  But eventually I’ll unpack and iron everything, and then hopefully I’ll find an occasion to dress up in the middle-of-nowhere.

In other news, it’s been awhile since I’ve done a celebrity-inspired makeup/hair/outfit look, and I’ve fallen madly in love with Selena Gomez in her music video for “Come and Get It,” so that is my next project.  I just need to find a dress. ;)

Hues of Blue

It should be obvious enough by now that I am obsessed with cool toned pastels. This outfit is no exception.  I want to wear these pants with everything and I wish I had them in every color.

Urban Blues

I haven’t been blogging recently because so many huge writing assignments have been keeping me busy that the thought of writing makes me a little bit nauseous.  But I’ve finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel and only three final exams stand between me and summer vacation, ushering in the bitter-sweet end of the year reveries where I mourn all of the lost time in the city.

While I’m sad to leave New York for the summer, I’m very excited for all of the things that the next year has in store.  I’m finally becoming a “big kid” and moving off campus and into a “real” apartment where I’ll have to do things like, oh, pay rent.  I’m anxious but I can’t wait to see what other changes will take place in the coming school year.

But onto the outfit.  I’m obsessed with Urban Outfitters (who in their right mind isn’t?) and a couple of months ago when they had their huge sale I snagged two pairs of tights for less than the cost of one pair (along with a dress and a top and a necklace...you get the picture.  It was a bad time for my wallet).  I’ve had them stashed away all winter and finally pulled them out to wear with all of my spring skirts and dresses.  Obsessed.

Throwback

The weather in NYC is just awful.  It’s such a tease; nice one day and cold and snowy the next.  To cope with my intense spring fever, I’ve been layering spring clothes under warmer clothes, like this dress that was my mum’s.  I’m wearing it open, more like a cape than a dress, because it was a little too long to wear buttoned all of the way down and didn’t look right with leggings.  Anyway, my mum wore this dress to my baptism as a baby, so it’s as old as me.  It had crazy shoulder pads (typical 90s) that I cut out as well.  Do you like to go through your mother/grandmother’s closet or go thrifting to find old clothes?  Lately it’s my favorite thing to find something old, fix it up a little bit, and make it my own. :)
